Following the establishment of Balaju Industrial Area in 1959 AD (2016 BS), the Government of Nepal recognized the need for a massive regional industrial estate situated in the Inner Terai.

Under a bilateral economic and technical cooperation agreement between the Government of Nepal and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), 2,819 Ropanis of land were acquired in Kamane.
