Situated on the Rapti riverbank in Ward 10, Bhutandevi Temple is the spiritual heart and namesake of Hetauda. According to Mahabharata legend, Bhima defeated the demon Hidimbasur during their forest exile and married his sister Hidimba (Bhutandevi Mata). The city's name evolved from Hidimba -> Hedamba -> Hetauda. Features the historic royal Bisasaya Puja instituted by Jung Bahadur Rana in 1851 AD and vibrant Bada Dashain celebrations.
