Perched at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level (17 km northeast of Hetauda), Makwanpurgadhi is one of Nepal's largest stone hill fortresses, constructed in the 17th century by Sen dynasty kings. It is renowned for the historic Magh 1819 BS (1763 AD) battle where Gorkhali troops defeated 2,000 invading soldiers of Gurgin Khan. Features 25-foot stone ramparts, Krishna and Vamsha Gopal temples, and 360-degree mountain panoramas.
